Hindraf Uthayakumar hospitalised, continues fast

SINGAPORE: Malaysian Indian leader P. Uthayakumar, fasting for several days now in protest against his detention without charges and trial, was taken ill on Thursday and hospitalised, according to the Hindu Rights Action Force.
The Hindraf leader and lawyer continued fasting even after hospitalisation, Thanenthiran Ramankutty, the group’s national coordinator, said over telephone from the hospital near the detention centre in Taiping. The other four Hindraf leaders, who were also on a hunger strike in the same prison, were alright.
